Our Story

How it all began

How We Met

Alicia and Granger at the Tetons
Alicia and Granger in Washington D.C.
Alicia and Granger

Our story is truly a unique one—and one I'll never get tired of telling. We met on July 4th, 2020, in the most unexpected way. I had taken a last-minute trip to visit a friend in Florida, and in true Independence Day fashion, we decided to take her jet ski out to Crab Island, the iconic, partially submerged party spot just off the Destin bridge. Her boyfriend at the time said he'd meet us there with a couple of his cousins. Little did we know, God had already set a plan in motion.

I'll never forget the moment I saw Granger, cheesy as that may sound. We were struggling to anchor the jet ski when their pontoon boat pulled up beside us. I had just come up sputtering water after being upside down in the sand, so I'm certain I didn't look my best. But the guy standing at the end of that boat? Well, I thought he looked pretty good. The very first thing Granger said to me was, "You look like you need a shot!" I laughed, accepted, and we ended up talking for the next several hours, then hanging out several times for the remaining few days of my trip. From that day on, he became my best friend. I learned he was one of the aforementioned cousins—and that he hadn't even wanted to come out that day. Like I said… God had a plan.

While it would be easy to say "the rest is history," the truth is our story unfolded slowly and intentionally. With me finishing my undergraduate degree in Georgia and Granger heading to chiropractic school in South Florida, we chose to prioritize our education and careers, remaining close friends for several years. We visited each other often, exploring different parts of Georgia, Florida, and even having a whirlwind trip in Washington, D.C. along the way.

After I graduated in 2022 and moved to Utah, Granger came out to visit twice. On the second trip, he casually said, "I'm going to move here." I laughed, because the idea seemed completely crazy (lots of people visit Utah and claim they want to move here... who can blame them? It's gorgeous!). As it turns out, he knew exactly what he wanted—and I had a feeling it had much less to do with the mountains than he claimed. Even after moving, he chased me for a whole extra year while I remained my stubborn, independent self.

Then, once again, God's timing proved perfect. The moment I realized my feelings for Granger were far more than friendship was powerful and undeniable—I was in love with my best friend. Granger must have sensed it too, because in July 2024, almost exactly four years after we met on that island, he officially asked me out.

The Proposal

Celebrating the engagement at Cecret Lake

I asked Granger for three things when he proposed: that he give me a year to plan the wedding, that it be outside, and that it be a fairly private moment. Boy did he deliver!

The crazy part? I planned it without knowing. I'd been wanting to hike to Cecret Lake since I moved to Utah but never got around to it. With my brother happening to be in town that week (turns out he knew all along) I suggested we finally do the hike. I'd also run into a friend a few days prior and invited her to come with us. The plan was to catch the sunset up there, and we were actually running a little late. When we arrived, we basically speed hiked the entire way. Frankly, I was sore and tired because my brother and I had done a much longer, harder hike the day prior, but Granger grabbed my hand and essentially dragged me forward. He said "you can slow down but you can't stop, it's a great sunset it'll be worth it!" I thought, man, this sunset must be phenomenal and trudged onward.

It was gorgeous up there. Even funnier in the end, I also picked the spot he proposed. I suggested photos there with my friend that had come along (she was in on it too!) and when I went to go set up by the water for a pic with her, there Granger was with a ring box in his hand! I tunnel visioned from sheer excitement — I could hear ringing in my ears and had to literally refocus my brain to hear his beautiful words leading up to the four words every girl has imagined hearing: "Will you marry me?" Ahhhhhhhhhhh!

After an obvious yes, he put the ring on my shaking hand, then we had to run down the trail in the dark because we forgot headlamps. I excitedly yelled at some strangers on the way down that I'd just gotten engaged haha. On the way home I was told we had dinner reservations, but it turned out all our friends were waiting at the house for a surprise celebration party! He did so well! It was a perfect night!

What We Love

Alicia, Granger, and Archie at a waterfall

Each other for starters! We love God, our families, our friends, and of course, our puppy, Archie (we're actually obsessed with him)! We also love where we live and all the things that come with it. We spend our free time snowboarding, hiking, camping, and climbing, truly embracing all that Utah has to offer. We can't wait for all our favorite people to join us in celebrating what we love most!

Our Wedding Party

The people who mean the world to us

Bridesmaids

Andrea Williams
Andrea Williams
Matron of Honor

Who else could serve as my Matron of Honor better than my lifetime best friend? Meet my beautiful mother, Andrea! Mom radiates everything that makes life wonderful. She has a never-ending amount of love to give, she's immeasurably kind, thoughtful, and compassionate, and I am eternally grateful to God for making her my Mom. If I can be even half the mother she was one day, I'd be happy. Mom and Dad retired to Alabama and are doing what empty nesters do best — living it up! Don't let her docile nature fool you, my mom knows how to throw a good party! I'll owe 90% of my wedding day's success to her! Having her by my side on my special day is more than exciting, it's a genuine honor.

Jess
Jess
Bridesmaid

Jess is still in my phone as "Jess!!!!!" because that's the energy you get from her; there have to be exclamation points. We met in the freshman dorms and she was completely unphased by my more unhinged antics, so we instantly clicked. No one else has ever matched my chaotic energy so closely — stealing balloon arches from campus, pulling pranks on our guy friends, choreographing dances to songs in our cars, throwing cereal at each other in the dining halls... pretty much any shenanigan you can think of, we did it together. Jess now lives in Colorado with her husband. I was honored to be one of her bridesmaids in her wedding and I can't wait for her to be in mine!

Sophia
Sophia
Bridesmaid

Soph and I also met as fellow victims of outdated, pretty gross freshman dorms. I don't think we much cared though, because we had a blast regardless. Soph was my down girl whenever I needed to get out from the stress of college and wanted to get out on the town. Always down for a good time, but always with her eye on the prize. Since graduating (as a triple major!), she's worked her tail off, married a great guy, gotten a pup, and moved to Florida. She's smart, relentless, and you'll be sure to find her on the dance floor on the big day (and me right there with her!).

Photo coming soon
Hannah
Bridesmaid

Hannah is like a personified firecracker: you don't really know what she's going to do next, and you'll hear her from down the street, but you know you're going to enjoy being there through it all. Another freshman year friend for life, Hannah radiates... everything at once? Fun, passion, loyalty — the list could go on for a while. Most notably, Hannah has always dedicated time to her pursuit of God and now works for and lives at a Christian camp in Texas, a perfect place for her energy. If on the wedding day anyone needs to wake up, just find and have a chat with Hannah, she'll do the trick!

Julia
Julia
Bridesmaid

Julia and I survived sophomore year ecology together (honestly, she survived for the both of us; I think I attended that class a total of four times), becoming fast friends thereafter — she molded right into our chaotic friend group. The most important thing to know about Julia is she will do anything for her friends. She means business (a corporate baddie in Georgia), may as well be a professional planner or a professional social media intelligence agent, and won't hesitate to go the extra mile to make something more memorable or special. Oh, and Julia is also a 2026 bride-to-be! I have the privilege of being her bridesmaid just three weeks before my own wedding!

Caroline
Caroline
Bridesmaid

You want a best friend that oozes the cool factor? You gotta meet Caroline — which won't be hard, because you'll find that people tend to gravitate towards her. Her energy is infectious. I met Caro through Jess during our sophomore year, and with her we'd completed our perfect girls' group. Want to know anything about pretty much any sport, especially Georgia football or the NFL? Ask Caroline or her boyfriend, another close friend of ours from school, Tyler. They live in Vegas baby! And as if she wasn't cool enough, Caroline started working as a graphic designer for the Vegas Raiders straight out of school. She's a talented artist, full of hilarious quips, and a fiercely loyal friend.

Groomsmen

Slade Brown
Slade Brown
Best Man

Slade is my brother, and honestly one of the most creative and genuine people I've ever known. By day he's a massage therapist, but in his free time he's building duck houses, tending his garden, printing figures on his 3D printer, and dreaming up new adventures. Growing up, he created an RPG called Gimeson that we played together for years, and every single session put our imaginations to work in the best way. He's a devoted husband and father of two boys, and he's been a creative spark in my life for as long as I can remember. I couldn't imagine anyone else standing beside me today. — Granger

AJ Williams
AJ Williams
Groomsman

AJ is my soon-to-be brother-in-law and the brother of my bride, Alicia. He's a United States Air Force Officer working in Acquisitions, and the moment you meet him, you can tell he's someone who intends to leave a mark on the world. He carries that military presence with real pride, but catch him off duty and you've got a goofy, lighthearted guy who is just genuinely great company. He enjoys a good cigar, a round of golf, a game of Call of Duty, and time with his girlfriend Tessa. He's also been in my corner from the start, and I'll just say he was kind enough to give Alicia a little nudge in my direction early on. For that, I am truly grateful. — Granger

Blaise Harned
Blaise Harned
Groomsman

Blaise is my cousin, though anyone who knows us would tell you we've never really operated like that. We grew up together in Fort Walton Beach and shared more hilarious, memorable moments than I could ever list. Blaise is one of the most driven people I know. He's got an entrepreneurial spirit that's genuinely rare, and when he puts his mind to something, it gets done, no exceptions. These days you'll find him flipping cars, building his real estate career, hitting the golf course, or enjoying the good life in Santa Rosa Beach with his wife Kiley. I'm proud of the man he's become and honored to have him up here with me. — Granger

Jack Tona
Jack Tona
Groomsman

Jack is my cousin, and one of those people who has always just felt more like family than that word even covers. We grew up together and I have a lifetime of memories with this guy that still make me laugh out loud. Jack is a firefighter, a gifted athlete, and one of the most genuinely kind people I've ever met. He's a bit of a quiet soul at first, but once he warms up to you, you'll feel like you've known him your whole life. That's just the kind of person he is, easy to be around and impossible not to love. — Granger

Marco Tona
Marco Tona
Groomsman

Marco is my cousin, and like Blaise and Jack, the title barely does justice to what he actually means to me. Growing up together in Fort Walton Beach, Marco was always the one bringing the energy, laughing the loudest, cracking the best jokes, and somehow making friends with absolutely everyone in the room. That hasn't changed one bit. He's one of those rare people who can walk into any situation and make it better just by being there. These days he's out in Virginia, conquering hiking trails with his girlfriend Elizabeth and staying deeply committed to fitness, even helping others reach their own goals along the way. — Granger

Ryan Brown
Ryan Brown
Groomsman

Ryan is my oldest brother and the steadiest person I know. He's a chiropractor, a dedicated family man, and the kind of guy who doesn't waver when things get tough. He's just a rock. When we were in chiropractic school together, Ryan introduced me to upper cervical chiropractic, and that changed everything for me. It ended years of debilitating migraines and ultimately became the foundation of the career I practice today. I owe more to that conversation than I could ever put into words. He may be all the way in Kentucky now, but his presence in my life has never wavered. — Granger

Everything you need to plan your trip to Utah

Venue

Address

Louland Falls, Highway 80 (Westbound Only) Exit 131, Salt Lake City, Utah

Parking

If you're local or sharing a place to stay with others, please try to carpool — there are only 100 spots on site. For those who plan to drink, take an Uber or have a plan for another driver! The walk from the lot to the venue entrance is a steep incline, but don't worry — we'll have a golf cart running to shuttle guests from the parking area to the staircase entrance. Also, don't panic when the GPS seemingly takes you past the exit; you have to go one exit up, turn around, and hit the correct exit on the way back since it's westbound only.

Make a trip out of it — Utah has so much to offer

Cecret Lake
Activity

Cecret Lake

The proposal location itself! Cecret Lake, true to its name (pronounced 'secret'), is hidden above a massive rock formation on the Cecret Lake Trail in Alta, Utah. The trail is fairly easy, except maybe the last tenth of a mile, which is more rapid elevation gain up the rock. The end is SO worth it though, or at least we certainly think so!

Park City
Day Trip

Park City

Just 30 minutes from Salt Lake City, you can't go to Utah and not walk around Park City. The drive there alone is worth it with all the fall colors. Good food, coffee, shops, galleries, brews, you name it! If you're feeling a little more adventurous, you could look into mountain biking, horseback riding, or finding a nearby hike to see the fall leaves!

Local Favorites
Dining

Favorite Eats and Brews

Salt Lake City has a LOT of options, and you can't really go wrong if you're looking for food, coffee, or drinks, but here are a few of our favorites:

Food:
- From Scratch (legitimately food from scratch, so fresh, if it's a weekend night consider a reservation)
- The Green Pig (pub-style, great place to watch football)
- The Copper Onion

Coffee:
- Hell's Kitchen (fantastic food too)
- Sunroom
- Mecca Cafe

Drinks:
- Lake Effect (live music/chill on entry floor, basement floor is speakeasy vibes, top floor is club vibes)
- Spritz

Donut Falls
Activity

Donut Falls Trailhead

This is one of our favorite local hikes. It's an easy trail, and absolutely gorgeous in the fall. Pro tip, when you think you've reached the end of the trail, don't stop. Slip down to the bed of the creek (wear waterproof shoes or prepare to get a little wet, nothing crazy though) then hike a little further up until you hit the waterfall at the end. If you want the best adventure, climb to the top of it! You'll find an epic cave entrance that the waterfall spills into and gets its namesake from. Be safe and have fun!

Snowbird Oktoberfest
Activity

Snowbird Oktoberfest

You're bound to find Oktoberfest all over the place around this time, but we especially love Snowbird's. Don't feel like you can't bring the kids, there's plenty to enjoy for the whole family — gondola rides, live music, food, games, and of course, plenty of beer to go around. It's also a great canyon to see the changing leaves!

Antelope Island
Day Trip

Antelope Island

Catch sunrise over the Great Salt Lake at Antelope Island State Park — one of the most surreal landscapes in the American West.

The ceremony start time is tentatively set for 5:00 PM, though this is subject to change as we finalize details — keep an eye on this page for updates! We recommend arriving at least 20 minutes early to allow time for parking and getting seated.

Yes! Right here on this site — head to the Registry tab and click the button to view our Zola registry, which is linked to items from several stores including Walmart, Target, and Macy's. If nothing is calling your name, we've also included a few cash funds for some upcoming expenses. Either way, your presence truly means the most!

We'd love to include everyone, but due to the venue's attendance cap we have to be intentional with our guest list. Unless a plus-one is listed on your invitation (written as "and Guest"), please reach out to the bride or MOH before assuming there's room. You can contact Alicia at 850-855-5523 or aliciawilliams1022@gmail.com, or Andrea Williams at 910-495-6973 or ajwilliams1220@yahoo.com.

The dress code is semi-formal. For the men, that's a suit and tie, or dress pants with a blazer. For the women, that's a cocktail dress or a dressy skirt and top. We aren't going to kick anyone out for what they wear of course, it's far more important to us that you're there than anything else. We just ask that everyone dress for the occasion. Also — bring a jacket! Early October in Utah is unpredictable, and both the ceremony and reception are outside. We've seen 75 degrees and we've seen 35 around this time. There are heaters on the property, but we recommend bringing a coat just in case!

Everything is mostly outdoors, with a few tables and the buffet line-up located just inside. Early October in Utah is unpredictable. We've seen 75 degrees and we've seen 35 around this time. There are heaters on the property, but we recommend bringing a coat just in case!

If they are included on your invitation (meaning the whole family is addressed, not just a couple; example: The Doe Family), then yes! If not, although we'd love to have them, we have to keep the guest numbers down per the venue's policy, so please set up childcare arrangements. If you're unsure, please contact the bride.

Please reference your formal invitation for RSVP instructions and deadline.

Unfortunately we aren't able to provide a shuttle from hotels to the venue, so we encourage guests to carpool where possible — parking on site is limited to 100 spots. Once you're parked, no need to worry about the steep walk up: we'll have a golf cart on site to shuttle guests from the parking area to the venue's staircase entrance!

There are 100 on-site parking spots available, so carpooling is greatly appreciated! The walk from the lot to the venue entrance is a steep incline, but we'll have a golf cart running to shuttle guests from the parking area to the staircase entrance. Please also note that the GPS has a quirk: the venue exit is westbound only off I-80, so you'll need to pass exit 131, turn around one exit up, and come back westbound. Don't panic, it's normal!

Feel free to have your phone out (and silenced) to capture a moment, BUT we ask that you please keep things discreet during the ceremony. Our photographer will be working the aisles, so if you're in an aisle seat please be mindful not to lean out into the aisle with your phone. After the ceremony, snap away to your heart's content!

Yes!
